Nouns

All Portuguese nouns are either masculine or feminine. The masculine definite article is "o", the feminine definite article is "a". "Um" (masculine) and "uma" (feminine) are the indefinite articles. Nouns ending in -o, -im, -om, and -um are generally masculine, while those ending in -a, -çao, -dade, and -gem are usually feminine.
